In the center of Phoenix's downtown core, opposite Patriot's Square where the city was founded, two spectacular 25-story office towers rise from the desert floor with all the wonder and mystery of the rock formations of Monument Valley. In keeping with an environmentally responsive "green" agenda, the buildings' design responds to the climatic demands of the desert in a visually evocative and cost-effective way while also providing distinct and flexible amenities to its commercial tenants. 
The entire exterior of each tower is clad using a system of horizontal fins that deflect the sun and shade the interior glass-enclosed floors, thereby minimizing the need for costly mechanical cooling systems much needed in the hot climate of Arizona. Developed by the curtain wall fabricator, Permasteelisa spa in Italy, the façade components are standardized but flexible to respond to the constantly changing angles and slopes of the walls whereby each panel is adjustable to maintain visual consistency over the entire façade. The horizontally oriented fins are spaced tightly to block any direct sunlight entering the office behind to dually reduce the heat gain and to achieve a solidity and monumentality sought by Mr. Ambasz. 
The highly unique interior organization addresses both the needs for flexible, multi-tenant spaces. Affording multiple tenants with a sense of ownership, each tower has four distinct double-height tenant lobbies directly opening onto the street and discretely connecting to the ground floor elevator lobby. A public lobby is entered through the plaza between towers for smaller tenants. A mezzanine floor offers multi-function rooms for the tenant’s use. Every office floor features a double-height elevator lobby achieved by alternating odd and even floor elevator service. Adjoining these lobbies are atria for major tenants. 
With the intent of increasing pedestrian traffic and providing a shady respite from the oppressive heat, a "canyon" plaza between the towers also serves as entrances to the six floors of underground parking and service area.
